In his more senior years, as the leader heading up and managing the day to day businesses successfully, he found he was so engrossed in ensuring the success of the day to day running of the businesses, he was very thinly spread to do any more.
He did not have time to explore or give his full attention to his passion of adding further value to the businesses, additional projects and other opportunities as often as he wished. Although, when he did have the opportunity ad-hoc to explore further, the results were outstanding, a few examples as below in the case studies.
At the senior level he was at, he had to give himself time to adapt, to be a bit of a sponge and to add value to his goals, however, the time required for this was rare. The simple solution would have been to have a duplicate of himself to work through these Value Added goals, but was an impossibility…
As he explored possible ways in which he could achieve his goals, he investigated as part of his networks of other businesses. He found that this was a common theme with his colleagues and associates in their SMEs, in that other business leaders also found it very difficult to take themselves out of the day to day running, as ensuring the success of their running business was paramount. Hence, anything outside of the box was left to slowly progress organically, if at all.
In researching larger businesses/corporates, he found that in the main these companies would either refocus their in-house resources or commission a large consultancy to report back to them at a significant cost. A privilege that many SMEs, Startups & Entrepreneurs do not have.
Because of not having enough time to explore other opportunities over the last few years, he felt restricted, overwhelmed and unsatisfied. So decided to exit the family businesses to take himself out of the day to day running and to expand his horizons in supporting other businesses to achieve their goals.
